Mountain biking or gravel, North, South, East or West, easy, intermediate or advanced – each of our tours is carefully crafted and each with their own distinct character – but the way we do things and the ‘feel’ you can expect from our bike trips is exactly the same regardless.
We’re a passionate bunch with our own way of doing things and it’s not always easy to put our finger on exactly what that ‘thing’ is. Thankfully Scott’s words on returning from a recent Torrid Affair mtb tour generously capture what we strive for – a fully immersive two-wheeled detox.
“Andy/Aneela, I hope you don’t mind me contacting you directly, but I wanted to take the time to thank you both personally for what was one of the best experiences I’ve had on my bike this last week.
Without going into too much detail, it was a break that I really needed in order to get some perspective back into my life. Living in Peebles and having been lucky enough to ride my bike in some amazing places around the world, I have to say that the trip to Torridon last week with you guys tops the lot. It far exceeded my expectations and I was overwhelmed by not just the riding, but the cultural experiences as well.
I would also ask that you pass on my sincere thanks to Paul and Davy. They are a credit to Go-Where and made me feel welcome and at ease from the start. We had some ridiculous laughs and I’m still smiling as I sit here writing. Both of the guys are first rate people as well as exceptional guides. True legends.
I guess the real reason for writing is to try to express to you all that the trip was more than just a riding experience for me. I am truly grateful for the time taken to pull such an amazing experience together and for the great time that I had.
Lastly, I would like to say that what Go-Where is delivering, is unique and special. It was a privilege to share a small part of what you guys have put together over the years. Thank you.
Feedback like Scott’s is more than we ever expect but it makes everything we do so worthwhile – we were misty-eyed on reading Scott’s email but his trip review was enough to make us crack open the Proseco and celebrate (although we rarely need an excuse for that)!
So how did we do – what would you say to anyone thinking about joining one of our trips?
Don’t hesitate! One of the best mtb trips I have been on. Good times, great laughs, amazing riding in spectacular scenery. Awesome experience. 10/10. Exceptional
What did you like best or least about your trip?
The trip delivered Scotland at its spectacular best! Awesome scenery. A true feeling of escape and some outstanding biking in unique surroundings. Technically demanding but expertly delivered by Davy and Paul, our guides for the week.
What surprised you most about the trip?
The scenery! Nothing beats it, and it’s on our doorstep!
How was the riding experience (e.g. pace, choice of trails)?
The riding experience was phenomenal. Well thought out routes tailored to the weather systems coming in for the day. Further, the week was well measured to ensure consistent effort and energy was maintained through the week. Trails were technically demanding and rewarding in equal measure. Couldn’t fault it.
How were your Guide/s?
10/10. Exceptional. Davy and Paul were an absolute pleasure to be around. Both were excellent company and easy going, whilst maintaining a healthy professionalism throughout the week. Both very approachable, patient and hard working. They are a credit to Go-Where Scotland, ensuring that all members of the party were having a great time and getting as much fulfilment from the trip as possible.
Any further comments?
Outstanding. Counting the days to the next trip!
